Photo Credit: Getty ImagesI happen to think my little suburb outside of San Francisco is one of the most family-friendly towns ever. But it didn't even make it on the map on Parents.com's list of 10 Best Towns for Families. Family Circle magazine conducted the survey, setting out to find towns with "big-city opportunities with suburban charm, locations that offer an ideal blend of affordable houses, good jobs, top-rated schools, wide-open spaces, and a lot less stress."
Most of the cities on the list are relatively unfamiliar (ha! there's hope for my little 'burb!), which probably helps them maintain their small-town-big-city vibe. I'm looking forward to seeing the complete breakdown of data.
Okay, so which cities made the list?
Castle Rock, CO
- Kennesaw, GA,
- Cooper City, FL
- Diamond Bar, CA
- Morton Grove, IL
- Madison, MS
- Franklin, MA
- Cedar Park, TX
- Derby, KS
- Chanhassen, MN
If you click on the links above, you'll get the skinny on what makes these towns so fantastic for raising families. You'll mostly find small cities with lots of space for kids to play and populations under 60,000 people (Diamond Bar in Southern California checks in at just under the 60,000 mark while Madison, MS is the smallest town on the list with nearly 17,000 residents.
