These decorative paper snack cones and beautiful lacy candle wrappings prove that doilies have uses beyond coasters and Valentine's Day cards.
To make a snack cone, gently roll a large round doily into a cone shape--one end should be completely sealed and the other should be wide open--and secure with tape or glue. Next, construct a handle by using tape or glue to affix a length of ribbon to the insides of the cone opening. Fill the cones with popcorn, chips, marshmallows, or any lightweight snack.
Doily candle decorations are even easier to make, and can be reused year after year. Cut a round doily in half and wrap it around the base of a glass votive candleholder, aligning the doily's straight edge with the base of the candleholder. Secure with tape or glue, and tie a ribbon bow around the votive. Alternatively, you can use small heart-shaped doilies to create a unique pattern on tall, cylindrical glass candleholders.
