    Worst Father's Day Gifts ever!

Okay, now listen-we're not trying to put a damper on the holiday, we're just gently pointing out that some of these presents make dad feel less-than-grateful. Is it a sad day when dad looks askance at your ashtray? Well, if you're over 10 years old and he doesn't smoke, it only makes sense. Of course there will be a dad who loves every single one of these items, but in general, these are the ones to avoid.

Did we miss any? Tell us the worst Father's Day gift you've given or received!

My kids give stuff that they actually wanted themselves and end up getting it, cause dad couldn't use it in the first place. Smart kids?

Aww Saying they do not want handmade things is kinda sad. Kids are proud of those things and I know as a mother I am so thrilled to recieve them!

Father's Day is not a holiday.

Homemade gifts take precious time, energy, and thought. It takes two seconds to buy a gadget online. This stupid article is just another marketing ploy as everything is about money in our society. Sad.

Why isn't a tie on the list?? I think dads everywhere are getting sick of those...

seems to me.. as American's we are turning every possible holiday into a big $$ gift giving day.. what happened to the idea that the gift is actually from the child on mothers/fathers day? Some of the best gifts I've gotten were hand made or things my girls did for me.

Let's not forget that this article, or whatever you want to call it, was posted by someone who has to advertise for others. Hense, the belittling of the handmade stuff. A lot of Father's Day, unfortunately, has been commercialized. I LOVE the World's Greatest Dad t-shirts (only, I'm a Mom, so I guess I should say World's Greatest Mom). I bet a lot of dads also get those electronic gadgets, and that would put them into the same category as all the other average Joe's. It's really what's in the heart of the gift that matters.

My Dad is big breakfast kind of guy so when I was old enough to cook I'd make him the ultimate Filipino breakfast... fried rice with garlic, dark coffee, fried eggs, tapa, and fresh fruits. My brother would wash his car that weekend since my Dad was also a grease monkey at heart and always took care of his car. Now that I live in Europe I try to send him stuff from here but when I visit I make up for it by making him that breakfast.

this is disgusting that they would say that a homemade gift from your child is better then some high tech expensive gift. So have sad that who ever is behind this marketing ploy Sucks!

Totally agree with the "#1 Dad" junk! But i do like getting Homer slippers, they are comfy. If you need ideas, I know it may seem impersonal, but a gift card to someplace you know he likes. I would like Best Buy my self but i don't think you could go wrong with a Target or Wal-mart since they have EVERYTHING.

a handmade gift from your child is the worst gift ever? I think you should poll some dads, just saying. My daughter's hand made gifts are displayed prominently in my curio cabinet, absolute treasures in my opinion.

I have always told my daughter that my gift is NO GIFT AT ALL. I would rather that the money be spent on things other than a holiday created by Hallmark. Why is it necessary to write an article about how much your mother or father don't want the gifts you give them on a day that really means very little? I tell my father that I love him and that I appreciate all that he has done for me. That is my father's day gift .... one that he doesn't have to shove in the back of the closet or worry that is wasn't useful enough.

All I know is as a Father for 39 years, any gift including nothing at all was appreciated as long as it had "I Love you, Dad" with it.

Whatever happened to just being grateful you're a father. That's what's wrong with our consumerism driven economy. Things become more important than relationships. Gifts, not actions, become the chosen method of showing how much we care.
Please, if you have a good father DO something nice for him that is motivated by love and sincerity rather than how good it makes you look. And why not do it all year long? Remember, Mother's day and Father's day are both inventions of the retail industry. Coincidence? NOT!
The best advice: Honor your father and your mother...

I also love the homemade gifts. Just the thought that someone spent all that time making something for me is really touching. Anyone can buy something, a hopmemade gift is one of a kind.

My 4 year old son will probably spend more time drawing a card for me than the Shine staff spent writing this article.

What a bunch of bulls--- this article is. Materialistic dribble.
