Don't forget the many disabled pets out there. Blind, deaf, and those missing a limb can and do lead happy lives and enrich this world. My sweetest natured pets have been and continue to be the special needs ones.

I can see how this little tike would be a helpful member of a therapy team. I used my jack russel who would love on and snuggle with clients during emotional and trying times. She was a blessing to them and now that I am retired she continues be a blessing to me and my husband and still does outreach with others.

The photo looks bigger than the actual dog.

My late wife carried our 4 lb poodle in her purse..............everywhere. Best restaurants, clubs, hotels, aircraft, busses, traveled from Mexico to Canada. No one ever knew she was around/with us.

We did get thrown out of a Vegas Casino once. Cameras caught us, saw the dog's head out of the purse. Gads, you ever been escorted out of a place with 4 Guards, over a 4 lb dog? That was our hotel. We had to sneak in at night through the rear delivery entrance, out of fear one of the same guards may recognize us.

Animals are the most honest creations...they neither pretend to like you, or dislike you. Nothing compares to the love of a pet, it is unconditional, even when we don't deserve it. I am always glad to read stories about people who finally understand the value of pets, for example the "therapy" pets, usually dogs or cats, who visit nursing homes and hospitals. It is a documented fact that the residents and patients who interact with them, even if it's just by petting them, seem to do better physically and emotionally than those who don't want anything to do with them. And, of course, the animals sure do love being petted.

It has been said that the best thing about pets (dogs, cats etc.) is
that they give you unconditional love, they don't prejudge you and
they accept just about everyone that they meet - well at least
"most" people that they meet. I just wish "all" humans living
in our country and other countries treated each other as well
as they treat their pets. It is just a thought.

I've had a Yorkie for 17 years, and I'm 23. He's been with me for more than two thirds of my life on this planet and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better companion.

We have 'Squeeks' a deaf and somewhat retarded Shih Tzu who only runs in a clockwise circle when excited. She was slated to have a brick attached to her neck and feed fish. The wife was her last hope, so she was free. What a great source of smiles and laughs she has turned out to be.
