Cat Massage: Ahhh! Yes, right there...that gets my fur tingling!

The idea of massaging my cat or my dog -- seems kinda...oh, I don't know, funky? I mean, be honest - like me, you "pet" your dog and/or cat every day. They get their pats on the head, and their full-body, happy touching - with that little tickle that makes their back leg wiggle like a Mexican jumping bean... but do you actually "massage" them? I know I don't. Rather, I didn't.

I sure do now. After learning a little more about this by watching this video, and by reading up on it, I realized that I wasn't being very fair to Wabby. Over at Coddled Critters this FAQ page talks about pet massage as "the manipulation of muscles and skin to promote increased circulation to all the organs and tissues in your dog's body." One expects it does the same for cats.

And, over at The Find (an online store) I saw a whole line of brushes...a must for pet massage.

Well, seems that I have done my poor pets a disservice - that I'm going to fix today! Have a look at this video (I just LUV Tyson -- he's so adorable!), and then...go massage your pet and let us know how it goes! (here's a thought: am I the only one who just discovered pet massage? how many of you already do this???)

Two of my seven cats have lost a front leg, and I massage their backs and hips often. They have to work harder to get places and their muscles have to work against their natural order, so a gentle massage puts them both in a state of bliss. The larger kitty, a long haired Main Coon, just LOVES to have his belly and remaining armpit massaged!!
I just found out my chiropractor works on animals, as well. As soon as our temporary financial situation improves I plan on taking them in to get better aligned, too.

My cat loves it! He just completely passes out and starts drooling (even more than normal! Yeah, my cat is a drooler). He will roll all around so you can every angle. It's really cute!

What a wonderful idea. I'm sure they will love it, at least those who are used to being coddled.

My older chihuahua loves getting a massage. My younger one isn't sure about it yet, but she's still so young and hyper she thinks staying still is a punishment (hee!).

Nskachavos, the easiest way I could think of is to get one of those cat condos that is one level high and use that as a step stool. Your kitty probably already knows how to jump on it, a lot of them smell like catnip, and it's not too high. My chihuahua uses one to get up on my bed, but wouldn't use a step stool for whatever reason. Good luck!

I've been doing pet massages on my pets for years now. I first tried it about 7 years ago on my roommates cat and he was totally in heaven. It became our bonding time, a little massage every day. I now live with my hubby with a dog and a cat, and they love getting massages. It makes me happy to see my pets so happy and blissed out :)

My three cats love massage therapy.I use the ( T ) TOUCH METHOD.The massage method relaxes them.Especially Demi, he's the one that has comes to me, for some reason ever since he was kitten, he gets "spook "at every little sound or movement.Where as Goldie and Sade just come to me for more and more. Like attention. As admire of cats ever since child hood . I prefer cats, then dogs. But no matter what type of animal it is. they love the human touch.

I've been massaging my cat Hubble because he has arthritus in his front paw. I am wondering if anyone has an idea on how to help him with
getting up on the bed. I put a stepstool there, He seems a little reluctant to use it.
