My dog Sam is the center of our universe and although we don't dress him up or push him around in a baby carriage, I will make him treats sometimes - they are cost effective and tasty, too. I know this because I've taken a taste or two!
This is what I use as a basic recipe.
MyPetTreat Dog Biscuits
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup cornmeal
1/4cup wheat germ
2 teaspoons 'Better Than Bouillon" Beef or Chicken Flavor
1/2 teaspoon yeast extract (adds additional meaty flavour)
Mix above ingredients in a medium bowl.
Add 2 eggs, 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 cup hot water. 2 fish oil caplets (pierce and drizzle in)
Stir well. Roll out on a well-floured surface to 1/2 inch thickness, cut into bone shapes or any shape you like. Place on ungreased cooking sheet. Bake at 300 for about 2 hours, let stand until hard. Makes about 1 dozen.
I make it frosting for it with peanut butter, yogurt & honey - works great!
