The actual U.S. government has issued an official statement declaring that the world is not going to come to an end on December 21. The rumors are based on the idea that the ancient Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012. Except, I remain a little concerned that the end of the world is nigh, although not because of the Mayan calendar.
