Obviously ditch a product if it's dried out or smells funny, but you should also toss mascara after three months and liquid eyeliner after six. A good rule of thumb is that the creamier or wetter the product, the shorter its shelf life. For example, foundation, concealer, cream blushes, and lip liners last up to a year whereas powders foundations, blushes, bronzers, and eyeshadows should be okay for up to 18 months. Store your makeup in translucent containers so you can see what's in each one for easy access. These stackable plastic bins are bright and cheerful!
