Popsicles in the backyard on a scorching hot day, corndogs at the state fair, marshmallows roasted over a bonfire -- nothing says summer like food on a stick. Foods that abandon traditional cutlery are always fun and bring a bit of entertainment to meals. Here are 10 recipes that ditch the fork and knife.
2 rosemary sprigs
1/4 C & 2 Tbsp sugar
1 C blueberries
1 1/2 C blackberries
1 C Greek yogurt
2-3 Tbsp vanilla sugar (or sugar & 1/8 tsp vanilla extract)
1. Combine rosemary, sugar & 1 C water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, swirling to dissolve sugar. Simmer for 5 minutes, then let cool for 20 minutes.
2. Put berries in a medium saucepan & add 2 Tbsp water. Set over medium heat & crush berries with a potato masher as pan heats.
3. When the berries begin to weep juices & are mostly crushed, press mixture through a fine-mesh sieve set over a bowl. Discard pulp. Add the rosemary syrup. Fill 6 popsicle molds halfway with puree. Freeze till firm.
4. Combine yogurt & vanilla sugar. Fill remainder of mold, put a popsicle stick in each center & freeze completely. less
