For a breed that's not even really a breed, Pit Bulls sure get a lot of press. Pit Bull, a generic term, may refer to any number of breeds: the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, the American Pit Bull Terrier, or a mix of those breeds. And they sure do get more than their fair share of press. Granted, Pit Bull-type dogs are strong, says the Pit Bull Rescue Center, which recommends enrolling in obedience training as soon as they are up-to-date on shots. However, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, and American Pit Bull Terriers can all be loving, devoted family pets.
