    10 Ways to Cook with Beer

    Given how much we all love firing it up in the kitchen and cracking open a cold brew, why not double your pleasure and cook with beer while you drink it? We've found that the friendliest brews for cooking tend to be dark, like brown ales, porters, or stouts.       Serves 4-6

      4 bunches collard greens, stems removed, and chopped
      6 slices thick cut bacon, large dice
      1 onion, large dice
      1 bottle beer, preferably a nut brown ale
      Pinch cayenne pepper
      1/4 cup brown sugar
      Salt and pepper, to taste

      1. Place bacon in a wide pot and cook over low heat. Add onions after 10 minutes & cook until bacon is crispy ... more

      Serves 4-6

      4 bunches collard greens, stems removed, and chopped

      1 onion, large dice
      1 bottle beer, preferably a nut brown ale
      Pinch cayenne pepper
      1/4 cup brown sugar
      Salt and pepper, to taste

      1. Place bacon in a wide pot and cook over low heat. Add onions after 10 minutes & cook until bacon is crispy and onions are caramelized, stirring occasionally.
      2. Turn heat to medium high. Add half the collards & full bottle of beer. Stir and let wilt before adding the remaining greens. Stir until greens are mixed with the liquid. Add cayenne pepper, brown sugar, salt & pepper. Turn heat to low, cover, and cook for 30 minutes or until greens are tender. less
