Every dog I've owned has had a unique name, and one reason I've taken this approach is I'd like to avoid standing at the park calling for "Spot" or "Spike" and risk having a dozen dogs charge at me. There's that, and I'm also totally against naming pets non-human names. Fluffy, for example -- blech! What self-respecting animal would enjoy being called such a gag-inducing name? But this is just my preference. And judging by the recently released list of top dog names for 2012, not everyone shares my opinion. You'll soon see what I mean. Dropping in at #2, Buddy is (in my opinion) a totally bland and boring name to give a dog. Apologies if you did. Sure, it's friendly, but come on. It totally lacks creativity!
