    8 Holiday Movie-Watching Snacks

One of the biggest luxuries that holiday time off affords us is the ability to sit through a two-hour movie in the middle of the day -- perhaps alongside our family, after a lazy morning at home. But it's easy to tire of movie theater popcorn and boxed candy. If you're like us, you like to pack yourself homemade treats and -- ahem -- smuggle them into the theater.

Whether you'll be singing along to Les Mis or cheering on Frodo and the dwarves, you'll want something to nibble on during the holiday blockbusters. From sweet to savory, we've collected 8 recipes that are perfect for mid-movie munching, brought to you by the spirited community of home cooks at FOOD52.

      1 tablespoon maple syrup
      1/4 cup light brown sugar
      3/4 cup white sugar
A generous sprinkling of sea salt

      1. In a medium pan, heat butter over medium heat. Add sage, and cook for a few minutes, until fragrant.
      2. In a large bowl, beat the egg white. Add walnuts, and toss. Add maple syrup and sage butter, and incorporate. Add sugars, and toss until walnuts are evenly coated.
      3. Preheat oven to 300F. Spread walnuts evenly on a parchment-paper lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with sea salt. Cook walnuts for 30 min., breaking them up about every 10 min. Remove from oven and allow to cool. less
