- Thu, Apr 25, 2013 5:10 PM EDT | CommentsRhubarb is often dubbed the "pie plant," and the stalks, soft and delectable when baked, do make a divine pie filling. But pie is by no means the only way to experience rhubarb. This tart vegetable is as delicious in a savory dish as it is in a sweet one.
In Season: Rhubarb can be found from late winter to early spring with a peak season from April to June.
What to Look For: Thin, red, crisp stalks have the best texture. If stalks are floppy, it indicates they were picked too long ago.
How to Store: Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for up to 1 week.

Adrienne Bailon's Glowy Skincare Secrets - Thu, Apr 25, 2013 3:20 PM EDT | CommentsToday the Environmental Working Group released its 2013 Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen lists to highlight the pesticide loads in various types of produce. We'll go over the Clean Fifteen later in the week, but we wanted to start by taking a look at the foods that made the 2013 Dirty Dozen list. The list is compiled by measuring the percentage of samples that contained pesticide residue, the percentage that had more than one type of pesticide, the average number of pesticides found, the volume of all pesticides, the maximum number of pesticides found on a single sample, and the total number of pesticides found on a given commodity. The result is a pretty comprehensive picture of how likely or unlikely the crop is to contain pesticides. Looking through this year's Dirty Dozen, the thing that most stands out is that these are mainly fruits and vegetables with thin skins, which makes sense because their thin skins make them more vulnerable to pests. Though, you shouldn't let this list deter you from eating fruits and vegetables. Eating a few pesticides isn't nearly as bad as depriving your body of the nutrients it gets from fresh produce. Instead, use the list as a way to focus your grocery budget. So what's on the Dirty Dozen? Click though to see the top 7. - By Elizabeth Stark and Brian Campbell

Polka dots: super-cute on clothes, not so cute on your face. Sadly, when acne pops up, it's not just the zit itself that can be a bummer - acne blemishes are wounds, so just like any other time that your skin is inflamed, a scar can be left behind for weeks. To figure out how to prevent and treat acne scarring, we reached out to dermatologist Dr. Ronald Moy, who gave us the low-down on how to de-spot our visages.

To keep your skin clear, the key is to start with prevention - and since acne is technically a skin infection, it should be treated as such. "One of the most effective ways to address acne is by targeting it at its root cause: bacteria," says Dr. Moy. "You can kill bacteria with prescription antibiotics, but there are natural options - such as sandalwood oil - which kills acne bacteria on contact."
When acne does crop up (and let's be honest, no matter how rigorous we are with our skin care routines, we always seem to end up with a big fat one at least once a month), Dr. Moy says that the key with scar prevention is to baby your complexion as you treat it, to avoid traumatizing your already-irritated skin. If you have deep scarring, Dr. Moy says, you may want to see your dermatologist to receive a laser treatment, but for your everyday spots and red marks, there are a number of products that will encourage cell turnover to reveal a more even skin tone with regular use.

7 ways to spring clean your wardrobe - Thu, Apr 25, 2013 2:28 PM EDT | CommentsI've tried my hand at both terrariums and dollhouses now, so really, it's just a matter of time before a miniature garden or two makes an appearance. I love creating tiny worlds and there are so many (so very many) adorable accessories for the miniature garden trend. Like terrariums there are just so many different options for theme, plant material, containers - I had trouble narrowing it down to just 25. And because these are popular with children and adults, I've included supplies and kits for a variety of skill levels and ages.
