Terrazzo floors

The house I grew up in was the type of common hurricane-proof structure found in the San Juan suburbs: reinforced concrete walls, a flat roof and aluminum windows. But what took our house from functional to beautiful were those white terrazzo floors. And thanks to my Mom slaving over to clean them, they were kept white and shiny every day! The house I grew up in was the type of common hurricane-proof structure found in the San Juan suburbs: reinforced concrete walls, a flat roof and aluminum windows. But what took our house from functional to beautiful were those white terrazzo floors. And thanks to my Mom slaving over to clean them, they were kept white and shiny every day! It was such a treat to lie down on the cool stone to listen to my Dad read the paper in his best radio voice or to my favorite music playing on the record player. ¡Qué nostalgia! less
