When it comes to DIY décor, event planner Damaris Mercado-Collier believes that the passion behind creating something beautiful should be seen from start to finish. "I get a lot out of creating something for my family that is beautiful and can be done at an affordable price. It inspires the artistic part of me [and] it's very satisfying," says Mercado-Collier, who never thought of herself as the creative type and began accepting invitations to decorate weddings and parties after her husband's prodding and encouragement.
According to this mother of four, the fun behind this particular project was enhanced by her daughters' assistance along the way.
