Growing up we're told there are certain fashion "rules" we must obey. "Don't wear stripes with plaid." "No white after labor day." We blindly follow these edicts without questioning their validity, but in doing so we severely limit our sartorial options. Think of the number of perfectly good outfits you've left hanging in the back of your closet just because they fail to conform to one or more of these antiquated maxims.
