Perhaps no other VP kid has had as much influence on her father and on the world as Mary Cheney. A long-time defender of gay rights within the Republican party, she blasted the Federal Marriage Amendment, which came out under her father's watch, in her 2006 memoir. At the same time she remained a loyal confidante and campaign aide for her father throughout his career. In June, the political consultant married her longtime partner Heather Poe, a park ranger, in Washington D.C. Together they have a five-year-old daughter, Sarah, 5 and a 3-year-old son, Sam. Grandparents Lynne and Dick said they were "delighted" their grandkids' parents tied the knot.
