Penguins, Seals and Whales: Just a Normal Day in Antarctica
If you've ever wanted to visit Antarctica, but didn't have the funds or time, you'll practically feel like you're in the thick of a penguin parade in this picturesque photo series.
Los Angeles photographer and filmmaker Tim Van Der Linden signed up for a recent trip to Antarctica with One Ocean Expeditions, and took stunning images of the continent's breathtaking beauty - and all of its super-cute creatures, too.
"I knew Antarctica would be cool, and when we booked the trip it was mostly for the spirit of adventure and going where few people had gone," Tim tells the Good News. "Once I got there, I was absolutely floored by the beauty and unspoiled nature of all the destinations."
On his two-week expedition, Tim took photos of countless penguins swimming, jumping and eating, and one adorable seal we just want to hug all day long. There were also some larger animals out to play: "The fourteen whales breaching off the bow of our ship was cool, as well as them passing super close to - and under in some cases - our Zodiacs was very cool," says Tim.
His beautifully-composed shots of daily life on the frozen continent make us want to pack our earmuffs and head there ourselves.
"I feel fairly well-traveled and this trip blew away all my former travel experiences by miles," he says.
