Mango with chile, lime, and salt
As older kids begin experimenting with spicy foods, let them try doctoring their mango Mexican style with pinches of ancho chile powder and sea salt and a squeeze of fresh lime juice. The best mango trick ever? Slice your unpeeled mango lengthwise along the pit to create an oval of exposed mango flesh. Cutting through the flesh but not the skin, make a crosshatch pattern in the fruit. Push on the rounded skin side of the mango, and the fruit will pop up in a hedgehog pattern of cubes, easy to eat with a spoon or teeth.
