Combine water and broth, and set to simmer over a medium-high heat. Peel garlic and add to the pot and then chop kale into large pieces, including stems. Add it to broth, once it's simmering.
Add beans to the pot, stir together, and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes, until kale begins to wilt. Then, add spinach to the pot, and immediately turn off the heat.
