It's almost here! Sofia Coppola's "The Bling Ring" finally hits theaters nationwide on Friday, June 21.
We're excited to check out Emma Watson in the film based on the band of rich Hollywood teens that ransacked the homes of celebs like Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, and Audrina Patridge in the mid-2000s.
Celebs aren't always the victims, though. Quite a few of Hollywood's brightest -- and richest -- stars have been caught red-handed with stolen loot.
Winona Ryder was at the top of the acting game in December 2001, but that all came crashing down when she was caught stealing an estimated $4,760 worth of stuff from a Beverly Hills Saks Fifth Avenue.
She was ultimately convicted of grand theft and felony vandalism and had to serve three years' probation and 480 hours of community service.
Ryder views the incident as a turning point in her life.
"In a weird way, it was almost like the best thing that could have happened," she told Interview magazine earlier this year, adding that the incident gave her "perspective."
"There was a foundation that I had early on, but I think I lost my footing -- you know, obviously," she told the magazine. "But then I sort of regained it."
Lindsay Lohan was one of The Bling Ring's victims, but apparently losing her own stuff didn't stop her from taking someone else's.
She seemed to be on the up-and-up in 2011, but all of that came crashing down when she was accused of swiping a $2,500 Kamofie necklace from a jewelry store in Venice, Calif. The actress tried to claim it was on loan, but owners denied it -- and promptly filed charges. She later pleaded no contest and was sentenced -- in part -- to 480 hours of community service.
Britney Spears came down with quite a case of sticky fingers in 2008. First, she reportedly "forgot" to pay for a $200 top at a Los Angeles Fred Segal. Then, she allegedly swiped a wig from an adult store.
Her most inexplicable theft, though, was a lighter from a gas station.
"Yes, Britney stole a blue lighter here last night. The lighter is $1.39. I'm hoping maybe the next time she comes back she will pay for it," the gas station owner said.
We wonder if he's still waiting for that $1.39.
Megan Fox still has some explaining to do to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. The mom of baby Noah was banned from Walmart as a teen for lifting a tube of lip-gloss from the famous twins' cosmetics line.
"They actually took me into the court and I had two choices and I took the second choice, which was wrapping [presents] for Christmas, which was awesome. It wasn't really a punishment," she told The Daily Express in 2008. "The other one was they were gonna make me wear a sign that said I stole from Walmart and stand outside Walmart for three days."
We have to wonder, though: Has she ever told Mary-Kate and Ashley about the incident? That would make for an awkward conversation.
