The arrival of the vernal equinox means warmer temps quickly followed by an outbreak of bright green growing things - but what does it mean for your skin? After months of bundling for warmth it means skin gets a chance to breathe! However, heavy makeup and thick moisturizers can take their toll on your skin; at least it does my skin. Sallow-looking skin needs refreshing before the big spring reveal. Here's my action plan for refreshing my face for spring.
Smoothing away blemishes with a honey mask. I only use thick moisturizers in winter because without it, my skin becomes crepe-like and extremely dry. After a few months of slathering on the cream the bumps appear. I'm lightening my moisture levels and smoothing away winter blemishes with a honey mask. Natural ingredients in honey work to heal bumps quickly.
Purifying my skin with a lavender-scented facial steam. Lavender soothes me! After my mask, I'm filling a sink with hot water and few drops of essential lavender oil. You pull the towel over your head, and then breathe in the steam for a few minutes. Steaming purifies the skin perfectly. However, don't harm yourself, that water is hot!
Calming my skin with soothing products that contain aloe, chamomile and geranium. After months of continual exposure to the central heating system, my skin needs some refreshing calm. Dryness can make it irritated and red.
Brightening dull skin with products that contain glycolic acid. This ingredient brings fresh new skin cells to the surface, making the skin emit a natural glow. Glycolic acid also tightens and brightens the skin.
Boosting my skin's glow with tinted moisturizers. My skin looks a little wan and pale after the winter months. Part of my spring facial refreshing includes adding a hint of color to my face with tinted moisturizers. I don't mean an orange, Snooki look, just a gentle tint to add a bit of a healthy glow. Since I plan on being a bit more bare-faced now, I'm wearing a tinted moisturizer with SPF 15. I don't want to pay for enjoying the sun later.
Refresh your face for spring with these five simple steps. Spoil yourself a little and follow the steps a few times to get smoother, calmer, more beautiful skin.
