Recently I canceled my old page and opened a new one, and am still in the process of adding everyone who was on my old account (I have great friends; over 30 people from my old account have found me, and have added me as a friend).

I had to do this because one of my friends who is a radio talk show host got his account hacked and the hackers sent phishing emails to several people on his friends list, including me. I was not sure how much of my privacy was at risk, so I closed my old one and opened a new one.

So this got me to wondering just how safe is Facebook to use? How much of a risk is there to users to getting their account hacked, their identity stolen, and their futures ruined? I did some research, and learned a few things.
