Creepy News: Average Woman Has 500+ Chemicals on Her Body

align="right" height="200" width="300">I guess I shouldn't
be that shocked, but it's still pretty weird to think that on
an average day, we've got more than 500 chemicals hanging out
on our bodies,
according to this research.

Where does it all come from? Think about it. We step out of the
shower (likely with some lingering body wash on us) and apply
deodorant, body lotion, perfume, moisturizer, makeup and who knows
what else. It all adds up pretty quickly. The study found that
fragrance alone can add 400 chemicals to your body! (So if
you're going to use it, better make it a good one, <a rel=

like one of these.)

How healthy (or not) certain foods are—for us, for the
environment—is a hotly debated topic among experts and consumers
alike, and there are no easy answers. But when Prevention
talked to the people at the forefront of food safety and asked them
one simple question—“What…

I'm crazy about all the bad stuff out there we call food and
feed our kids. Halloween, though fun for the kiddies, is an
example of how difficult it is in our society to go against the
flow from a nutritional perspective. We are trying hard to
eliminate all the chemicals and food…

align="right" height="222" width="250">Nanophobia has officially

that are engineered on a nanoscale, which means really, really
small--like a million times smaller than Honey I Shrunk the
Kids small--and whether or not their ability to penetrate the
skin could cause liver failure. It's fun, light reading, after
the jump!
Ingredient of the Week: Sirtuins, the anti-aging mystery

align="left" height="328" width="270">Welcome to Ingredient of the
Week, where we'll be reporting the latest innovative and
must-have ingredients in the skin care market. This month,
we're highlighting ingredients from the December issue
of Allure (on
stands November 25th) in "Best Face Forward," an
eye-opening look at the newest anti-agers in the industry. First
up: Sirtuins.

What they are: Protein enzymes in our bodies and
major players in the aging process.

What we know: Sirtuins help repair cell damage and
extend the life of a cell by serving as their
"guardians," says lead researcher David Sinclair of
Harvard Medical School in a Washington Post article. He
explains:

What we think is that if a cell is at a point of
deciding whether to live or die, these sirtuins push toward the
survival mode and let the cell try a little harder and longer to
fix itself...
