A judge has ruled that Christie Brinkley’s July 2 divorce trial to Peter Cook will remain open to the public, as she wished, because he believes "open courtrooms, in general and in divorce actions, may provide a basis for societal education." Despite the fact that a law guardian for the two children left some of the evidence revealed at the trial may harm them, Brinkley got her way and the kids—and all of America—can hear the gory details of their split. "Why would anyone be happy about that? It's putting herself in front of her children,” says Cook’s lawyer. But Brinkley’s lawyer countered, "The reality is he put himself way in front of his children and his wife when he made the awful decision to destroy the marriage. The trial will get at the truth, which is very important to Christie."
