Kindergarten Jitters

So my son, my one and only child, started kindergarten today. I
thought I was all prepared and ready to go; proud because I had
everything set- and anyone who knows me, realizes just how
disorganized I am (I am in fact the person who misplaces her keys
on an almost daily basis, despite having a…

First Day of High School - A Mom's Reflections

I watched from the front door this morning as my oldest child took
the long walk down the street and turned both a physical and
symbolic corner. Bear in mind, that as the mother of a now-freshman

closed, through a single pane of leaded glass that distorted my
vision, and made what I was witnessing seem even less real.

Does it get any easier? My son's first day of school

On Thursday, September 4, 2008, my son started his first day of

July). I was really against starting him so early and I still
am...kinda. The real only reason I agreed is he needs special
therapy for his speech and language...

Walking to school was a lot less empty than
it usually is. Everybody seemed to be walking for some reason. The
seniors of 08 were insane. They were driving around blasting music
in their class painted cars, spraying silly string, wearing
matching shirts, and yelling "08's so...
