Friend or Foe: Help! My Alcoholic Buddy Wants to Baby-Sit!

Dear Friend or Foe, A few years ago, while transitioning to another job in another state, I rented an apartment in the home of a much older woman, “Gayle,” for about five months. She was single, and we got along well and occasionally went out for dinner or a drink. My husband and I then bought a house in the next town, and I moved out. But I kept in touch. The problem is that Gayle is an alcoholic. And while she's fine and even somewhat enjoyable when sober, she’s embarrassing, loud, and rude when she's been drinking. I’m due to have a baby in two months, and she has come over to my house to tell me that I "look terrible" now that I'm pregnant, to loudly criticize a possible baby name choice, and, finally, to tell me that since she needs the money, I should buy some furniture from her and let her baby-sit my daughter!
