"left" height="252" width="206">Okay: We know that it's
important to eat seasonally and locally (it takes less energy to
get food from plant to plate that way) and that we should fill our
recycling bin to the brim whenever possible. But there's more
to going green in the kitchen: according to Kate Heyhoe, author of
Cooking Green (Da Capo Press), appliances account for 30 percent of
our household energy use, and the biggest guzzlers are in the

"" align="left" height="275" width="367">I recently did an
interview for the Huffington
Post where the reporter asked me what to do with
non-everyday items. Sure, we all know to recycle paper, plastic,
aluminum cans, etc. But what about things that you have to
replace once-in-a-while like light bulbs, computers, mattresses,
toner cartridges and even sneakers?

Like most people, I am quite busy and hate a big hassle. So I
try to make recycling quite simple and convenient. And the

Depot and others have started recycling programs. Green
Scout Report put together a quick cheat sheet with no hassle
solutions the next time these non-everyday items start to pile
up:

Recently, I was at a friend's house and we were in the
kitchen. My friend turned the faucet on and then got really
passionate about our discussion. She proceeded to stand at
the sink, talking non-stop for over two minutes while the water
ran, unused. I wanted to jump out of…

The first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970. That first
Earth day launched the environmental decade. The American people
stood up for Mother Earth that day and showed their deep concern
about the deterioration of our environment and the rape of our
natural resources. The objective of…
