In celebration of International Human Rights Day on December 10th and in reaction to anti-gay ballot initiatives in California, Arizona and Florida, DayWithoutAGay.org has come up with a brilliant way to peaceably fight the opposition. The gay community is asking for supporters not to call in sick, but to "call in gay" in order to take the day off from work to volunteer time with various organizations that promote equality. (For those who fear getting fired, there are other ways to get involved.) Oh and you don't have to be gay to call in, duh. Given the huge organizing success of Join the Impact and the nationwide protests this past Saturday, we wonder how many people will actually call in and say, "Can't work, I'm too gay today."

Why gay marriage lost big this week (and is Obama partly to blame?)

This historic, landslide presidential election was a huge win for those who are thirsting for change in the form of a progressive new political ideology in this country. And that is exactly why gay marriage activists are even more perplexed as to how Proposition 8 passed on the same day. In fact, November 4th symbolized a huge step back for gay rights when three states voted to change their constitutions to define marriage as well, a hetero thing.

Why do you think Americans so vehemently oppose gay marriage anyway?

In a 2006 issue of Esquire, Brad Pitt famously stated that he and Angelina would only "consider tying the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able." Looks like he's making good on his word, because he just donated $100,000 to help stop the California ballot initiative called Propostition 8 that would ban same-sex marriages in the state, reports OMG.
