One fruit that couldn’t handle this year's rainfall was the
cherry, and Jim Kent’s crop was almost completely wiped out because
of heavy rains that occurred only three to four days before Locust

align="left" height="300" width="300">I like to call last
summer “the summer of preservation.” My most exciting project was
sharing with a friend a bulk order of Amish peaches from
Pennsylvania. Big, super-sweet and juicy, they were some of the

at most supermarkets. If you pick some up and want some ideas to
use them, here’s what I did with my amazing peaches...

Besides amazing flavor, peaches are packed with natural goodness including vitamins A, C and potassium. They’re also a good source of antioxidants, beta carotene (which gives them their deep yellow color) and flavonoids, which may help slow the aging process and reduce the risk of some types of cancer and heart disease. Plus with only 60 calories and plenty of fiber, they are a calorie-counter’s dream.
