      <title>Crabmommy: Beware of hothouse parenting!</title>

lying on a bench at the &lt;a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.cookiemag.com/travel/2007/09/playgrounds?mbid=yshine_crab"&gt;playground&lt;/a&gt;. From the corner of my eye I see my
daughter gesticulating at some kid. And he&amp;#39;s gesticulating back. And
they&amp;#39;re looking tense. And one of them is climbing UP the slide! My
body stiffens. UP the slide! If ever there&amp;#39;s a &lt;span&gt;playground&lt;/span&gt; no-no for me
that&amp;#39;s it. Because just think of all the things that can go wrong, &lt;em&gt;the kids that can get hurt, the bad manners...&lt;/em&gt;
And so on and so forth. But I&amp;#39;m not budging. Do I seem like I&amp;#39;m lazy?
Actually, what I&amp;#39;m doing takes work. I am in fact trying very hard to
resist a powerful urge to march over to the kids, observe, mediate,
modify, and otherwise interfere with the business of &lt;a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.cookiemag.com/magazine/blogs/daysitter/2007/05/childs_play_is_.html?mbid=yshine_crab"&gt;child&amp;#39;s play&lt;/a&gt;.   &lt;/p&gt;</description>
