<br>
I did cry. How could you not?

School&#39;s out, but H1N1 flu still affecting kids (and working parents)

align="left" width="250" height="376">The H1N1 flu (the pandemic
formerly known as swine flu) is no longer front and center in the
news, upstaged by protests in Iran and a southern governor who says
he was hiking the Appalachian Trail but was really having an
adulterous affair. You might think the worrisome virus has
completed its journey. The anecdotal stories making their way
around our area tell a different story: Kids hit by fevers at the
end of the school year were sent home and asked to stay home for at
least a week, final exams waived if need be. So do letters going
out to parents about summer camps. The one from our township reads
that a &quot;Stay Home When You&#39;re Sick&quot; policy will be
strictly enforced.

the first lady, telling NBC&#39;s Brian Williams</a></strong> that
she hasn&#39;t been able to keep up her usual busy schedule the
past few weeks because of activities at her girls&#39; school.
It&#39;s where she wanted to be, felt she needed to be, and she was
there. What a powerful message for working parents (and their
employers) to hear--Michelle Obama saying she took time time away
from the office to attend school events during the mad dash to the
end of the school year.

Even though he’s been my biggest cheerleader from a distance, the company has always been my baby, not his.

We had toyed with the idea for years that he should give up the only career he had ever known—newspaper journalism—so we could work together. The curiosity, challenge, and fun in his line of work had dissipated and it was high-time for Act Two. Yet, it’s always scary to pull the trigger and up and quit. Both of us were gun-shy.
