Most people tell youth to wed when they get older. Statistically, your chances of not divorcing or higher, but sometimes, marrying young can be a good thing. Walking (or skipping) down the aisle in your late teens or early twenties does have a few advantages.
1. You can have guiltless sex.
If you're bound by religious beliefs to remain celibate before marriage, finding true love at a young age can be great. Unlike your peers, you get to learn about sex without guilt and develop a routine. You also have the luxury of doing this while your body still looks good naked.
2- You're both open to change.
With age, most people become closed to new ideas. For this reason, marrying young can be a bonus. You're still open to the kind of change necessary to bond with another person. For example, although you might not understand why your mate squeezes the toothpaste tube in the center, this reality won't make you go crazy. You also will be more willing to compromise on furniture, food and TV shows.
3- You get to build a life together.
One of the biggest problems of couples that marry late is merging their lives. Both parties have developed a career, home and friend/family base separately. Now, giving up what they've started several years ago is hard. However, this isn't a problem if you're young. You and your spouse can etch out every inch of your lives together and make sure they continue to fit throughout the years.
4- You have the energy to raise children.
Have you ever seen an over forty couple dragging around a baby? Sad. Even when they're fit, they appear worn out. One reason to marry young is to have your children while you have the energy to take care of them. You can run, play and spend hours giving them the kind of attention necessary to raise them into well-rounded children. Then, by the time your forty, your offspring are about to leave the nest.
5- You're still young if things don't work out.
Unfortunately, in America, many marriages just don't last. Although the pain of divorce stings no matter what age you are, your ability rebound is better when you're under fifty. Chances are that you will be if you marry young. You can pick up the pieces, meet someone new and even have another set of children.
These five reasons to marry young are ones you can go back to when you're judging a baby-faced couple walking down the street. You might be surprised to see that they are just as well off as the more mature one sitting at a nearby table sipping coffee.
