Victoria's SecretAnyone who's streamed the Victoria's Secret fashion show knows the company is basically synonymous with sexy. While we may not be able to have the models' legs, racks, or boyfriends, hey, we can compete on an olfactory level. I was at the launch of their new fragrance the other day and it occurred to me: they've been trying to bottle the scent of sexy ever since the first Vicky's Secret fragrance launched in 1991. So what are their perfumers using as inspiration? Let's trace the evolution--a few of my favorites:
It's Inspired By: The lives of the supermodels after dark (nonstop parties on yachts and schmoozing with A-list actors, right?). Night is the brand's newest--and most sophisticated--fragrance.
It Smells Like: Like most of their scents, it's heavy on the floral notes, but the dry-down is surprisingly musky and warm with notes of sandalwood, black amber, and white patchouli. When pressed to describe it at the launch event the other night, a fellow beauty editor friend put it this way: "It just smells like the memory of a great night out." Aw yeah.

It's Inspired By: When you think of Victoria's Secret, you think of pink. Yes, it's because of the storefront and the bags, but it's also the color that goes hand in hand with unabashed femininity, which is the idea always being sold there.
It Smells Like: Victoria captures the color pink using notes of strawberry, raspberry, rose, and Fiji apple and the result is young and fresh--just like the fragrance's face, Behati Prinsloo.

Seduction Dark Orchid
It's Inspired By: This scent is for the "glamorous provocateur," says Victoria's Secret, but we're calling her "the woman who reads 50 Shades of Grey in black negligees."
It Smells Like: Heavy on exotic, spicy notes, orchid, and oud wood.
It's Inspired By: Pinup girls of the 1950s--Bombshell is for the glamorous, playful girl who likely feels most comfortable in a red dress.
It Smells Like: Passion fruit, yellow peonies, and white orchids, plus Italian pine that really adds kick.
