For soft, polished curls: The fastest way to make your curls look more defined? "Wrap them around a large curling iron," says hairstylist Nathaniel Hawkins. "It defrizzes, adds shine, and loosens your curls into softer waves."

For bouncy, frizz-free curls: "Mix equal parts conditioner and warm water in a spray bottle," says hairstylist Tippi Shorter. "Whenever your curls start looking fuzzy or limp, mist until they're damp and then air-dry. It really revives them." If your hair is coarse, add a few drops of an anti-frizz serum, like Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-Frizz Serum.
For an easy updo: "I love curls in a topknot, because you get a bun with beautiful texture and volume," says Shorter, who suggests rubbing a few drops of oil, like Alterna Bamboo Smooth Kendi Oil, between your fingers before you start styling your hair (it makes styling easier and adds shine). Create a tight ponytail at the crown (secure with an elastic), and if your hair is fine, twist it into a bun and secure with a few bobby pins. "Twisting dense curls into a bun is too hard. It's much easier to grab the ends and roll down toward the elastic," says Shorter. Tuck them under and secure with four big bobby pins.

For a three-second fix: When you want to revive curls with no effort at all, mist on a shine spray. "It fixes one of the biggest problems, dullness, since curls don't reflect the light like straight hair does," says Hawkins.
