Are You Going to Try the DD Cream Trend?

After BB creams hit the US market by storm, the Asian import was soon followed up with CC creams. And now, DD creams are actually happening. DD can stand for a "Dynamic Do-All," "Dermatologically Defining," and "Daily Defense," depending on which brand you turn to. Essentially this new iteration of alphabet makeup is supposed to take the multitasking product up another level to include antiaging benefits. While BB creams added primer, antioxidant protection, and SPF to standard tinted moisturizers and CC creams added color-correcting ingredients into the mix, DD creams now offer all those benefits plus even more antiaging benefits to help smooth skin and reduce fine lines.

Here are some of the newest DD creams to hit the market:

  • Julep DD Crème ($36): Marketed as a "dynamic do-all," this formula provides your skin with instant moisturization, evens out its tone, and protects with SPF 25. But it also has long-term antiaging benefits to plump up fine lines and minimize pores.

  • DERMAdoctor DD Cream ($38): Dermatologist Dr. Audrey Kunin took to formulating her version of a BB cream, but with even more skin benefits. With SPF 30 and a unique white sapphire complex, this lightweight foundation works on all skin types and combats 15 common skin concerns, including dark spots, fine lines, large pores, and redness.

  • Ofra DD Cream ($30): This product offers long-term antiaging benefits with vitamins and antioxidants, and provides an instant glow with light-diffusing particles. It comes in the widest range of buildable shades, and helps to diminish dark spots and acne scars over time.

  • Pur Minerals Rescue Squad DD Creme ($35): Formulated with natural ingredients, the contents in this tube offer color mixed with clinical-grade results. Sun protection, peptides, and botanical extracts work to nourish, hydrate, and protect your skin from stressors that cause aging.
