Fly in style and beauty with our travel tips for the friendly skies.
The longest flight in the world, between Newark and Singapore, is 18 hours and 50 minutes long-almost an entire day! We can't help but wonder: how do you survive that epic a journey? (Besides lots of movies and snacks, that is.) We asked San San Wogan, a United/Continental flight attendant with 40-years of airtime under her belt, for tried-and-true tricks for getting through a lengthy ride with your skin, style, and sanity intact.
Airplane air is notorious for sucking moisture out of your skin (humidity is at an ultra-low 10 percent-the same as the thin air atop Machu Picchu!), but that doesn't mean you should cake on heavy makeup and moisturizers. Wogan says to keep things light. "You don't want to use anything oily, because you'll block your pores," she says. "Look for products that sink in easily and absorb into your skin." Pick water-based products like a BB cream instead of heavy foundations, and gel-based cheek stains instead of powder blush. We like Dr. Jart+'s Water Fuse Beauty Balm, which also packs ultra-moisturizing hyaluronic acid and aloe vera. Most importantly: stay hydrated. Try to have at least eight ounces of H20 for every hour you're in the air.

Wogan suggests refreshing your face and skin every three to four hours. For a fast kick of moisture, spritz a facial mist like Melvita's Rose Water Spray. (If you're shy, just spray your hands and then gently pat your face.) This is also a perfect time to re-apply a nourishing lip balm, like Clark's Botanicals Ultra Rich Lip Tint, to ward off chapped lips, plus a good hand cream.
It's time for a full re-fresh, and that doesn't mean building on your existing products. "Over-applying is even more uncomfortable than feeling dried out," Wogan says. She always brings along a cotton wash cloth to quickly cleanse. We're big fans of Yes To Blueberries Brightening Facial Towelettes since they remove makeup while purifying skin, and add a punch of antioxidant-packed moisture. Afterwards, re-apply BB cream, cheek stain, lip tint and don't forget the smudge-proof mascara.

Still holding on to that cotton wash cloth? Here's how to use it for a midflight mini-facial: Lightly wet the towel and then place it over your face, breathing in and out slowly. You'll create some humidity as you inhale while hydrating your face. It may freak out your seatmate, but your skin will thank you for the boost of moisture.
With one hour to go before touchdown, do one last full cleanse and re-application. This is a good time to lightly dab a moisturizing eye cream like Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment to depuff and rehydrate the under eye area.
