Canola oil is not good to use this was known several years ago. Best oil to use is coconut, a trans fat but natural trans, not manipulated. Many of the seed oils we have been told to use for years have not curbed cardiovascular disease because they are manipulated trans fats. coconut, in countries where it is used do not cause problems and has many other beneficial uses. Use the olive oil on foods and salads and vegetables, after they are cooked. Olive has a much lower heat tolerance than coconut, The latter does not need to be refrigerated. Pork w/sauteed green apples....Wow...I was surprised at the sodium content. The ingredients didn't sound like it would have been so high.

This sounds heavenly! I am going to try it this weekend along with other receipts. I need to lose 10 pounds by Oct 14, 2011 for class reunion, specially my stomach , which is the main issue. Do anyone have any other ideas how to lose this stomach... Help

      About the salt content--
I only used 1/2 teaspoon of table salt in the flour mixture and would use even less next time (perhaps 1/4 teaspoon). It also looks like a considerable amount of the sodium comes from the chicken broth ( 830 mg per cup) used in the pan sauce. I preferred topping the chops with the cooked apples, which provide juice and a sweet contrast.

OH- and I used only a scant tablespoon of olive oil and a tiny dab of butter in the pan to fry the chops.

I am eating these scrumptious pork chops as I peruse this site...they are gourmet and come together in 20 minutes tops.

I did make a few modifications: peeled and sliced apples, sprinkled with cinnamon, poured 1/2 cup of cranberry grape juice over top, and cooked in microwave for about 10 minutes until soft.

Once the chops were ready, I tented them and prepared the pan sauce, which I would omit next time. Anyway, I put a tablespoon of sauce on my chop, a generous scoop of apples on top, and then a big scoop of dijion mustard on the side of the plate.

All of the flavors pop- sweet and savory...outrageously good!!

For all the people who are afraid of salt, go do some kind of exercise that makes you sweat. Then you will get rid of all kinds of toxins, and will need the salt. Use sea salt for the minerals..........

For the pork sauteed with granny smith apples, do you combine the mustard and pan sauce??
