8 Super-Fast Breakfasts from Grocery Store Staples

I'm a firm believer that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Not to belittle lunch or dinner. Or brunch. Or linner. Or snack time. (I like them all.) But to get your day off to a good start, you've got to put some brain food in your gut.

Don't think you have time to get more than a cup of burnt coffee in the morning? I'm here to help.

Plan in advance, choose the right things at the grocery store, and you can have a delicious breakfast in no time that leaves you with more than a case of the jitters and a charred taste in your mouth. (It will cost less than a stale corn muffin at the deli, too.) The idea is to awaken your body with foods that contain fiber, protein, and enough carbs to kick your thinker into gear. Here are some of my favorite quick and easy breakfasts that provide the fuel I need to keep me feeling good and thinking on my toes.

    At least until mid-morning snacktime.

I'd only eat two things on this list. I'd eat the English muffin, but cottage cheese = *barf*. I'd eat the cheese and apple tho. :)

      Otherwise I'll stick to pancakes/cereal...

Anyone who truly knew anything about health would know Kefir is meant to be drank daily, not just once in awhile and that Unfermented Soy is not good for anyone. Plus the thought of Cottage Cheese with Honey... BLEK!!!

These are "quick" meals..... that are healthy for you and your kids. Much better than grabbing a pop tart or getting something at McDonalds.... Some of these you can make and walk out the door,

And you nay sayers to eating well.....you will end up sick and in need of the lousy health care that awaits us. You need good food in your engine. Hmmmm, do you put water in your gas tank. How come? We've been spoiled with what taste good, not what's good for us. No wonder so many fatso Americans. But, I do question the wisdom of a lot of soy products.Eat well, be healthy, and have energy. Blessings

I think ALL these ideas sound yummy. Don't knock it; this is good stuff and it will keep you alive and healthy for a lot longer than what most people consider a "normal" breakfast!

Cottage Cheese for breakfast? OH, yuck. I can see eating fruit iwth most of your breakfast stuff but cottage cheese, cheese, yogrt, honey, and flax seeds? As for soy milk; I can see that if your allergic to other kinds of milk. As for honey I serve that with dinner rolls. And why INSTANT oatmeal it taste so bland. I would much rather have old fashioned oatmeal I like mine with cinnamon and raisins. Mmmm.

Uncle Sam's cereal from Walmart has more fiber 10g, less sugar and less salt than GoLean.. taste is good and it's super filling. Just a half cup of ceral and a half cup of milk keep me satisfied until lunch time.

Funny thing is I don't (and won't) have half of that stuff in my house. Bran Flakes? Cottage cheese on an english muffin? Really????

Read the ingredients in those muffins...high fructose corn syrup...and top it with honey...gross. Who wrote this article? Read what you eat. If you don't know what it is research it. I really wish when I read these articles it's written by someone who actually has a degree in that field.

My kids never went to school without breakfast, french toast, scrambled eggs, ham and cheese omelet, hot cereal or pancakes. I didn't find to many of the items mentioned gross, I myself very seldom eat breakfast. coffee and toast or english muffin is good, when I do eat something. But being on a budget, you don't buy $3.00 a loaf bread and food no one will eat. You can keep the silk and go lean cereal, all bran and skim milk (might as well drink water), I tried it ended up throwing it out, sad thing even my dogs wouldn't eat it. I eat right, watch fats and sugars and yes I'm overweight. And no I don't overeat or eat out at McDonald. Seems other people have a problem with overweight people, I like myself just fine as I am. If people don't want to get to know me because I'm overweight, I don't really care, and they are no loss to me.

If kids start out eating the things on these breakfasts, they will usually eat them because that is what they know, especially if they see their parents eating them, too. I'm not a health food nut, but I do eat several of the combinations mentioned. I put fruit in my cottage cheese, but I don't put butter on my english muffin very often. Why is it that people have to sound angry about everything? The author was just trying to provide choices, not to force anyone to eat them. My favorite comment was about adding vodka to taste--finally, someone with a sense of humor.
