I can't believe it's butter sculptures-
In Jamie Oliver's campaign for healthier school lunches, butter has a bullseye. In 2009, he demanded schools in the UK drastically reduce the amount of fatty patties on lunch trays. Wonder what he would think of the New York State Fair's recently unveiled butter sculpture, an homage to "school nutrition professionals." The sculpture, called "Feeding our Future", was constructed out of 800 pounds of delicious lard, and depicts kids stocking up their trays with healthy foods like yogurt, fruits and veggies. You can marvel at the irony, or simply at the amazing craftsmanship of sculptors Jim Victor and Mary Pelton who have designed Syracuse's big installation for the past 8 years. Good news for parents, the sculpture won't get recycled in cafeterias, but will be turned into biodiesel fuel after the fair shuts down in September.
