The six rotating taps in this narrow, eclectic bar are stellar, but it's the collection of obscure domestic and imported bottles that attracts loyal beer geeks-especially Belgian brews like Kerkom Blond, a bitter refresher from a farmhouse brewery in Flanders. The bar offers pickle plates and other snacks, but for substantial food, head across the street to Fette Sau; the same owners transformed a former mechanic's garage into Brooklyn's premiere barbecue joint. less

You can substitute an equal amount of fresh blueberries for the blackberries; be sure to rinse and dry them thoroughly before scattering over the batter.

Yellow cornmeal produces a dessert that has a rich, golden color, but you could use white cornmeal instead.
