    Beach Bum Cocktails

    Mix up a tasty concoction that's sure to make you feel like you're at the beach. We asked Colleen Mullaney, author of It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere, to share some of her favorite tropical cocktail recipes for summertime.

    Voodoo























    Ingredients
    8 lime wedges
    12 fresh mint leaves
    8 ounces (1 cup) mango vodka
    8 ounces (1 cup) mango nectar
    Club soda
    Garnish: fresh mint, chopped

    Preparation
    Muddle lime wedges and fresh mint leaves in a cocktail shaker. Add vodka and mango nectar. Shake vigorously, and strain into 4 ice-filled glasses. Top with club soda, and garnish with chopped fresh mint, if desired.

    Lemon Grotto

























    Ingredients
    6 ounces (3/4 cup) limoncello
    2 ounces (1/4 cup) orange liqueur
    8 strawberries, sliced
    Sparkling wine
    Garnish: lemon peel

    Preparation
    Combine limoncello and orange liqueur in a small bowl. Stir in sliced strawberries and soak at least 1 hour.

    Purée strawberry mixture in a blender; strain, if desired. Pour into 4 tall glasses. Top with sparkling wine. Garnish with lemon peel, and serve immediately.

    Ingredients
    8 ounces (1 cup) vodka
    4 ounces (1/2 cup) banana liqueur
    4 ounces (1/2 cup) pear nectar
    1/2 ounce (1 tablespoon) fresh lemon juice
    Garnish: edible flowers

    Preparation
    Combine vodka, banana liqueur, pear nectar, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker or pitcher. Pour into 4 ice-filled glasses, and garnish with fresh edible flowers, if desired.

    Ingredients
    8 ounces (1 cup) cranberry juice cocktail
    8 ounces (1 cup) vodka
    4 ounces (1/2 cup) ginger ale
    2 ounces (1/4 cup) fresh lime juice
    Garnish: lime wedges

    Preparation
    Stir together cranberry juice cocktail, vodka, ginger ale, and fresh lime juice in a large pitcher. Pour into 4 ice-filled glasses, and garnish with lime wedges, if desired.

    Sangria Bonita
























    Ingredients
    1 (750-ml) bottle dry white wine
    4 ounces (1/2 cup) orange liqueur
    3 tablespoons sugar
    1 (750-ml) bottle sparkling water
    1 orange, sliced
    1 lime, sliced
    1 star fruit, sliced
    6 strawberries, sliced
    Garnish: fresh mint

    Preparation
    Combine dry white wine, orange liqueur, and sugar in a large pitcher, stirring until sugar dissolves. Add sparkling water. Add sliced orange, sliced lime, sliced star fruit, and sliced strawberries; chill up to 1 hour. Garnish each serving with fresh mint, if desired.
