Creamy, crunchy and even a bit quirky, these peanut butters from the store are jelly's best friends.

BEST CREAMY: Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter
Velvety smooth, this classic won over tasters with a "rich, buttery" consistency and "slight sweetness." No wonder Skippy sells almost 90 million jars of the stuff each year. More »

BEST CRUNCHY: Jif Extra Crunchy Peanut Butter
"It's like having a big bag of peanuts," one taster said. Jif-named to be easy to say, spell and remember-also scored points for its "smoky, dark-roasted" flavor. More »
Try it in: Peanut Butter and Jelly French Toast Sticks »

BEST NATURAL CRUNCHY: Smucker's Organic Chunky Peanut Butter
Judges loved this "lip-smacking" peanut butter's "salty" taste and "big chunks of nuts." One taster said, "It'd be great stirred into a Thai peanut sauce." More »
Try it in: Thai Roast Beef Wrap »

BEST NATURAL CREAMY: Koeze Cream-Nut Natural Peanut Butter
It doesn't get more natural than Koeze-this old-school company makes its peanut butter strictly from Virginia peanuts and sea salt. (koeze.com) More »
Try it in: Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Crunch »

BEST HONEY: Nutty's Old Fashioned Peanut Butter, Honey Roasted Crunch

If brittle and peanut butter had a child, this "sweet, nutty" concoction would be it. It would "make a great candied topping for ice cream," one judge said. (nuttyspeanutbutter.com) More »
Try it in: Salty Chocolate Peanut Butter Brittle »

BEST ODDBALL: P.B.Loco Raspberry White Chocolate Peanut Butter
This peanut butter-from a company started by three former lawyers-is all natural, gluten-free and kosher. It's not low on flavor, though: "It's like a fresh raspberry tart." (pbloco.com) More »

now if someone would make peanut butter lower in salt, and sugar, and those other additives for a person with diabetes. we'd really have something.

For me, the ultimate peanut butter is by Harry and David's. My favorite flavors are Raspberry or Banana. It is definitely more expensive so don't try it unless you plan on getting hooked!

the smoothest peanut butter is not here in the US. It's in Canada and it's the Kraft extra- creamy. Jif is crap compared to that!!

Just like the results in this list it needs to be a national brand. Three of these I've never heard of.

Jif is not peanut butter, the only ingredients on the lable should be peanuts and a touch of salt. I don't do PB with sugar added

      BRAVO Airella and Dean:

You two are the only ones who got it right! Peter Pan Creamy is the pb for the "in the know" crowd. The health nuts who want just peanuts and salt need to by peanuts in the shell and just eat the whole thing; the pro-organic crowd is just trying to be hip (have eaten all sorts of organic product and it either tastes no different--produce--or it tastes worse--soymilk and peanut butter); the do-it-yourself people are just being too too cute.

Peter Pan rules---even for those of us who did grow up!!! Time to get with the program, folks!

Btw, the top three selections do not surprise me at all, since those companies pay a fortune to promote their products and RR and her Mag no doubt got hefty payments to rate those three at the top. And whoever mentioned Kroger as the best store brand is right on. The only thing I miss about moving from Marietta, GA to Florida is that I do not have access to a Kroger and their great store brand peanut butter.

I'm heartbroken as an avid peanut butter fan. I heard peanut butter contains carcinogens/cancer causing agents, even the organics. Now I have to find another alternative to my daily pb&J. But all other options are more expensive. Peanut butter is the best tasting cheap lunch out there and someone had to go ruin it by saying it's carcinogenic.

Anyway, since mainstream brands contain hydrono..whatever oils (artificial oil), I get my peanut butter from Whole Foods. Surprisenly, WF brand is cheaper than the regular nonhealthy brands.

Sorry Jif Smoothy in my opinion is the best.

This isn't really a "best peanut butter," there are six different brands listed.

apparently someone has absolutely nothing to write about.......

Actually, Food Lion's regular creamy is very good. Just as good as Skippy or Jif creamy.

My supermarket has a grinder so people can grind their own peanut butter. Freshly ground peanut butter, nothing added, is delicious. Much better than anything in a jar.

      aaahahahaaa.

Teddie "Old Fashion" style( peanuts and salt or just peanuts, prepared natually) ... once you try it, all others are .... well just peanut butter!

This is insane. I'm sure most of you know this, but Jif, Skippy, Peter Pan, etc. ALL remove the peanut oil from their peanut butter and replace it with cheap, nasty, artery-clogging palm oil, coconut oil, or other oils that'll kill you quicker than a knife through the heart. In fact, the reason those brands don't separate is because the oil is solid at room temperature--and you don't want that in your body.
Even a lot of "natural" and "organic" peanut butters do the same thing using natural and organic palm oil. Why? Because they can sell the peanut oil seperately for frying turkeys and as cooking oil--and it's expensive. Stick with a peanut butter with 2 ingredients: peanuts and salt.
