Brad Pitt is worried about his partner Angelina Jolie's superskinny appearance

Angelina Jolie is known for throwing herself into her roles, whether it's playing a grief-stricken mom in Changeling or a sociopath in Girl, Interrupted. But now, her real-life role as a U.N. ambassador is affecting the mom-of-six so profoundly that friends are concerned she's endangering her health.
The Oscar winner, who is dedicated to the cause of refugees, is looking superskinny and friends worry that she could be headed for an eating disorder. When she was younger, Angelina struggled with an eating disorder and self-mutilation, and experts say that it can be a slippery slope for sufferers, particularly when stressed.
"Brad has been trying to talk to Angelina about her weight and she's telling him to back off," an insider tells BettyConfidential. "She doesn't think she is that skinny, but everyone around her says she's become skin and bones. You can see the veins in her arms and her collarbone. She just doesn't eat. She only takes bites of the kids' food and that's it."
Back in 2007, Angelina's brother, James Haven, admitted that his sister has issues with food. "She sees food differently and she feels guilty about what she has compared with so many starving people who she wants to help."Angelina, who has visited Iraq, Kenya and Ethiopia over the past few months, is using her volunteer work for the U.N. as an excuse for keeping the weight off. "She tells Brad that she can relate more to the refugees looking the way she does now," the insider says. "She feels more of a connection to the people she's trying to help but Brad told her the purpose of her volunteer work is to help those who are suffering, not look like them!"
James Haven said that Angelina's life changed after she visited Ethiopia (she adopted Zahara from the country in 2005). "Whenever she's there, there's often no food for her and she goes without."
But Angelina's weight loss began earlier this year when she reportedly did a detox diet to lose weight for her role in Salt."She lost some weight just from being busy and running around a lot,'' says a source. "She finished filming Salt, where she was busy working long hours every day and exercising to stay fit for the role and now between the kids and her volunteer work for the U.N. refugee agency, she barely has a minute to eat."
And she doesn't like getting picked on by Brad for it. "Brad was just trying to tell Angelina that she's looking too thin without hurting her feelings, but she retaliated and told him the last thing she needed was him judging her," the insider says. "He's been trying to get her to eat, but she won't listen."
The pal says that Brad's biggest concern now is that Angelina will fall ill while traveling the world with their children. "He's not worried about her appearance but rather her wellbeing and the health of their kids."
