It seems odd that it took this long for Subway to introduce a Yogurt Parfait onto their menu especially because McDonald's has had this type of item on their menu for sometime now, which makes you wonder if Subway is trying to catch up to McDonald's in the healthiest restaurant race. According to a recent survey it seems that more consumers think that McDonald's is healthier than Subway anyways, but that's not what where here to talk about today. Today we are here to talk about whether or not the new Yogurt Parfait from Subway is worth your money and whether their statement "Made fresh daily with sweet blueberries, juicy strawberries, crunchy granola and creamy yogurt. It's a delicious, low fat treat, perfect for breakfast or any time of day. Come in for parfait our way, and experience the deliciousness today!" is even true.
Subway's Yogurt Parfait has yogurt on the bottom, with layers of strawberries, and blueberries in the middle, followed by another layer of yogurt, all topped off with granola. The taste of the yogurt isn't spectacular and is extremely similar to something you would buy at the grocery store, think Dannon or something, while the berries in the middle seem fresh and not frozen, while the oats on-top of the parfait add a nice crunch to the whole thing. The texture of the oats on-top is interesting because it doesn't had much taste to the overall product, rather it simply looks like they only added it to appear healthier. This Parfait isn't really anything to brag about, but could be a better option than some other options that Subway has to offer. The McDonald's Fruit 'N Yogurt Parfait is nearly identical looking, offers the same amount, and has almost the exact same ingredients but somehow manages to have less sugar. Overall (3 out of 5). If you're not near a Subway and are near a McDonald's and craving a Yogurt Parfait, the two are almost interchangable.
The pros are that the berries in the middle add a nice touch.
The cons are that the yogurt doesn't stand out as something amazing, and the oats on-top don't contribute much.
