Thanksgiving is a great time of year, because it allows us to spend time with our loved ones and be thankful for everything that they offer us. However, the Thanksgiving meal can be an absolute nightmare for celiacs, especially if the host isn't aware of what a gluten-free diet entails. So, if you are preparing a meal with a celiac in mind, here are a few easy tips to help make this Thanksgiving Gluten Free-friendly.

Gravy - Gravy is notoriously full of gluten, but the key is in what you use to thicken it up. Some stores sell gluten free packets, however,if you prefer to make your own gravy, then you should replace what you would normally use with rice flour, arrowroot start or potato starch.

Stuffing - Stuffing is another form of anxiety for celiacs, so try switching it out to include an alternative option of something that is gluten free. This will probably be corn-based, so something like cornbread would be great.

Breadcrumbs - Breadcrumbs are pretty easy to make. However, instead of using typical bread, opt for one that doesn't contain any gluten - the packaging will tell you that it doesn't. It works just as well and tastes just as good.

Desserts - Everyone loves desserts, but what do you offer someone who can't eat your perfectly crafted pies? One option is to buy a selection of gluten free pies and cookies, however many people find these to be expensive, so why not have a go at turning your delicious produce into gluten free delights?

To do this all you'll need to do is change the ingredients. For example, switch out your normal flour for potato starch, or you could purchase an all-purpose flour that is typically sold as being gluten-free.

So now everyone can enjoy Thanksgiving, and celiacs will be thankful that you made it gluten free.
