People are crazy! Have you ever wanted to hit your head against a wall and ask, "Why me?" Welcome to Marc Renson's world. Author of the hilarious book, Is The Coffee Fresh? Confessions of drama, dysfunction and daily life at a downtown coffeehouse.
Published by 23house Publishing of Jefferson, TX. www.23house.com Renson is the Co-Owner of Ambition Coffee & Eatery, 154 Jay Street, Schenectady, NY, a locals favorite for over twelve years. Does the cream of tomato soup have milk in it?
While the lights are off and the sign reads CLOSED, guests enter and ask, "Are you open?" Your chocolate hazelnut gelato, does that have nuts in it? Now meet all the colorful and ummm, interesting people Renson has endured over the years until he finally gave in to write his book. He would scribble his notes down on anything he could get his hands on some napkins, coffee cups or sugar packets. After years of collecting notes Renson finally sat down and began his publishing journey. Read what people do, say and steal out of Ambition.
Several have succeed in fooling Renson but those who got caught, offered a very funny story of one man's triumph through turbulence. Or while you're at it, contemplate the question - Do crazy people really wear red shoes? The answer may have you glancing through your own closet. As a bonus, Renson also includes some of his most favorite recipes that customers have enjoyed over the years. Renson, graduated from SUNY Schenectady County Community College in 1992 with an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts.
Worked his way up through the ranks. He started at a diner as a dishwasher then all the way up to Food Production Manager at SUNY Albany in 1999, his last job before his very ambitious dream came true. Renson also says, "Be careful what you wish for. I wished to own a restaurant." But as wishes came true he realized his wishes weren't specific enough. "Enduring the insanity of what customers will do, falls short of nothing but outrageousness." Earning the respect, hearts and flavor in the Capital Region of NY since April, 2000, Renson has set out to make his "Marc" in the world as an entrepreneur.
Renson has created, "A world of himself" on his culinary journey. Renson pulls inspiration from inside of him to create an experience of nostalgia by his funky retro decor of what and who from Hollywood and the music industry have inspired in him. In doing so, he has invited Hollywood into his Ambition.
Celebrities who visit Schenectady stop in and several have hired Renson to cook for them while in town. Renson truly believes, "We create our own worlds by our thoughts and actions."
