Click here to watch the videos! For most of us, Halloween is synonymous with candy, but for Dylan's Candy Bar founder Dylan Lauren, candy is a year-round obsession. Inspired by Willy Wonka, Disney World, and the Candy Land board game, Dylan's Candy Bar is the world's largest sweet emporium and features more than 5,000 types of candy. In addition to the recently expanded flagship in midtown Manhattan, there are Dylan's Candy Bars in Orlando, Houston, and Long Island, New York.
Lauren is -- not surprisingly -- an expert in making candy crafts, and Halloween is the preeminent candy craft holiday. While there's nothing wrong with just digging into your Halloween bag of treats, Lauren likes to use candy corn, butterscotch, marshmallows, and other confections to make unique edible crafts. In these videos, she shows us how to make two of her favorites: a Haunted Gingerbread House, and Owl and Pumpkin Brownie Pops. For each project, Lauren looks to the candy for inspiration: black licorice lace makes a spooky spiderweb, while sugar bats become a pumpkin's jagged teeth. But there are no rules: Being creative and making the project your own is all part of the fun.
To take a tour of Dylan's 15,000-square-foot Manhattan store and to watch Lauren make a Haunted Gingerbread House, and Owl and Pumpkin Brownie Pops, see our videos. You will be surprised how deliciously easy it is.
