Subway is honestly not THAT bad when compared to what kids would typically eat at home. And really now? You guys are concerned about the carbs? Kids need carbs to fuel their bodies and brains. Sure, Subway sandwiches probably have a lot of preservatives and stuff, but the bread, ham, and dressings people buy at the supermarket is usually no different unless they buy all-natural or organic stuff, which most are unwilling to dish out more money for anyway.

If we're talking just calories, then typically juice or milk isn't really better than soda. In terms of calories per serving, they're all pretty equal. Plus, sometimes the nutritional benefits of juice and milk are wiped away when you really get to looking at their ingredients.Often, cheaper milk has added hormones and juice is often not juice at all (as in has 0% juice content.) I say just drink the water.

Only idiots eat this crap or allow their kids. It's not just a burger and fries, it is garbage.

      1) I hate when people on these fast food/restaurant threads say "why not eat at home, cook your own food" this article is not for you, its for people on the move who sometimes find it easier to get a quick lunch at a fast food place...doesnt mean we live and breath fast food...so please shut up and go somewhere else with your obvious answers to life.

      2) Why are we counting calories for our kids? (the non-obese ones) You shouldnt feed your kids fast food everyday all day, thats a big fat duh, but geez if they like a burger give them a burger from wendys to mcdonalds....when i was a kid we weren't worried about the calories in a box of fries. If you live a healthy lifestyle, and arnt just sitting on the couch all day eating processed foods then i dont think you should be all that worried bout calorie counting, and if you're a parent having their childs diet monitored well then you shouldnt be going near taco bells and wendys anyway.

If you looked at what is in the chicken (even more so than the supposedly healther "grilled" version... You'd never eat fast food chicken again. Eew.
While "100% all beef patty" might not be the nicest cuts of the cow, You can actually pronounce what is in it.
Of course a crunchy taco has less calories in it! But how long is it really going to keep a kid full? Much better protein in those burritos than that ground up concoctions with a ton of saucy crap.
The subway sandwich is very lacking in protein, and is very essential in keeping a kid going through the rest of the day until dinner. There really isn'ty a whole lot of nutrients in iceberg lettuce, anyway. Those veggies aren't very filling!

Almost all the "healthiest" meals are over processed pressed together chicken parts shaped into a roughly round shaped and deemed a Nugget. I'd MUCH rather give some extra carbs and mounds of veggies to my kids than nasty plastic not food "chicken" nuggets. Yuck.

I'm guessing for chik-fil-a, the one chicken tender is for smaller (ie toddler) appetites. I've bought kids meals that are so big that my kids (7 and 3) have to share it! Otherwise, we end up with wasted food, which I hate.

I agree there's a lot of carbs in the bread. But my daughter piles on the veggies, so I really can't complain. As far as fast food is concerned, it's not terrible.

Let's not confuse fast-food with bad food. I own a so-called fast-food business & we take great care to ensure that our food items are healthy, nutritious & line-up in the quality department. One has to remember that Subway is a chain so there can be a huge difference in food quality between the respective franchises. The closest Subway to my location (I live in Southeast Asia)would clearly not measure-up to what Subway would view as their standards. The bread is stale & the ingredients look like they have been hanging around far too long. But what really caught my eye was the state of the condition of the Subway chain. Absolutely filthy! This came as a surprise to me as I've visited some top-notch Subway sandwich joints in the past.
